Hello all and welcome to my blog! If you’re new, thanks for visiting! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Anita Santamaria-Cohen and I was born in Mexico City, Mexico. My family moved to the States when I was just a baby, so I’ve been raised here.
I live in Westerville, OH with my husband, Spencer, and 3 teens, Kayleigh, Anthony and Elisa. I love to travel and explore new places.
Since the pandemic started and changed everything in January 2020, I’ve been trying to find ways to stay active and still get out of the house. That’s what brought me to hiking. Exploring the outdoors was a great idea for me. I then discovered that, not only is hiking amazing, but backpacking is the best thing ever! I discovered that a picture just can’t capture the views that you see when you climb that mountain yourself. The adrenaline rush that I get after a great hike or backpacking experience is unlike any other. It’s so great, I’ve gotten friends hooked on it!
In April 2021, I began hiking the Appalachian Trail and made it through most of Georgia. It was tough and I will be back to finish it!
Now, I’ve created a new goal for myself. I plan to visit all of the National Parks and National Forests in the United States. Sounds doable, right? Well, that’s 63 National Parks and 154 National Forests! That includes a National Park in the American Samoa as well as one in the Virgin Islands. Looks like I’ve got some travelling to do!! It may take some time, but I’ll get it done. How many have you visited?
